The Victoria pineapple is, in the opinion of experts, the best in the world. Its particularly sweet and fruity flavour, exceptional aroma, irresistible taste, small size and bright colour make it unparalleled.
It is grown in South Africa, Mauritius and Reunion Island (introduced in 1668). These small fruits thrive thanks to the warm humid climate, producing a veritable pineapple concentrate.
With its golden skin and beautiful shiny yellow flesh, it reaches an average size of 11.4 cm in height and 8.8 cm in diameter with a tuft of spiny leaves, prominent eyes and a crisp texture.

Description/Taste
Baby Queen Victorian pineapples, also known as Baby South African pineapples, are smaller than the common pineapple, standing only four to 5 inches tall. The fronds extending from the crown are only 2 inches longer and are sharp and covered in spikes. These mini pineapples have a fragrant golden orange skin and juicy, bright yellow flesh. They are sweeter and more aromatic than their larger counterparts.

Baby Queen Victoria pineapples go by many names, depending on the country in which you find them. In Australia they are ‘common rough’ pineapples, Britain, ‘Victoria pineapples’ or in South Africa, ‘Zululand pineapples’. They are unique pineapples and have slowly made a name for themselves in the world market since the 1980s.

These mini pineapples thrive in a warm, humid climate. The Queen pineapple variety has been grown in the South African area of Hluhluwe, in Northern Zulu Land since the mid 1980’s. Baby pineapples can also be found growing in Brazil, Hawaii and Thailand.
